In Arkansas the driver knowledge exam is given by the Arkansas State Police, and licenses are issued by the Department of Finance and Administration (DFA). Here is how to prepare.
The test
- A knowledge exam on Arkansas traffic laws, road signs and safe driving, from the Arkansas Driver License Study Guide, plus a vision test.
- Tests are given in every Arkansas county.
- The free Arkansas mock tests on PassDriveTest use 25 questions with 20 needed (80%). Check the current format with the State Police.
A study plan that works
- Read the Arkansas Driver License Study Guide (free from the Arkansas Department of Public Safety).
- Learn the signs on the Arkansas road signs tab.
- Take full mock tests and review every wrong answer.
- Aim for 23 or more out of 25 on several different mock tests.
Permits and teen stages
- Instruction permit from 14, after passing the knowledge exam and vision test. It is valid for two years from the passed exam.
- Learner's license (14 to 15): drive only with a licensed driver aged 21 or older. Your driving record must be free of serious accidents and serious violations for the previous six months.
- The learner's stage lasts until your 16th birthday and six months of restricted driving are complete.
