In Nebraska you pass a vision test and the DMV Class O written test to get a learner's permit, unless a permit you already hold or a driver safety course waives it.
What is on the test
- 25 questions from the Nebraska Driver's Manual. You can miss up to 5 (80%).
- A passed test is valid for 6 months.
- Taken at a driver licensing office: written on a tablet or audio, in English or Spanish, or a non-verbal picture version.
- The free Nebraska mock tests on PassDriveTest use the same 25 questions and pass mark.
Permits and waivers
- Nebraska has several permits for young drivers: the school learner's permit (LPE), the school permit (SCP) (from 14 years 2 months to under 16 years 3 months) and the learner's permit (LPD).
- The written test is waived for an LPD if you hold, or held within the past year, an LPE, SCP or LPD.
- Completing a DMV-approved driver safety course waives the written and drive tests; the school sends the result to the DMV.
- You can get an SCP online after holding a learner's permit at least two months and completing a driver safety course.
